Cross cultural ministry - Praying nations into revival by demolishing strongholds
Nations in revival… that is what we’re after when we talk cross-cultural ministry! Global revival happens because God’s people are praying effectively AND ministering effectively - in His mighty power!
I’m in the middle of a 100-day prayer saturation of Mexico, wanting to see the glory of God cover this nation and for there to be a vibrant church raised up that exists in revival! First thing I did in praying for Mexico is read the entry about this nation in my tattered Operation World book. Pulling from that and from my family’s experiences when we lived in Mexico, with an ear to the Holy Spirit I started discerning the strongholds of this nation. What are the things that need to be pulled down… so that there can be some planting and building up?
How about oppression, corruption (in the government and in the church!), the poverty mentality, the spirit of religion that’s holding people in bondage! A main stronghold is the Catholic religion that is full of sycretism, dabblings in witchcraft, idolatry, and major oppression of the people. Whew - that’s quite enough to get you started in some spiritual warfare for this nation!
These are just some ideas to get you thinking about how YOU’RE praying for a nation, a neighborhood, a family member. Get them free from the cords that are strangling God’s destiny in them, and then you can start seeing some life. More later… Laura Woodworth
Mrs. Woodworth,
It is great to see that you got this on the web! I remember you talking about the idea for it.
These prayer pointers are so true, thank you for helping us learn them. Last weekend I got the opportunity to pray at my old church for the mission’s pastors who were leaving for Ghana in a couple of days. Several other people prayed first, but I got to end it. It was amazing to feel and see the atmosphere change. The wife grabbed me as soon as I was done and was crying telling me how correctly targeted my prayer was to what was going on there even though they hadn’t told me the specifics beforehand.
I know it was God, but thank you so very much because I specifically tried doing everything you discussed in class (and this blog)!
Love,Kari
